Whether in a modern living space or a classic workspace, his works transport the viewer to a place they long to be, evoke feelings of happiness, and transform a room forever. Australia is a land of superlatives. The captivating green of the rainforest, the vibrant orange of the rocks, the deep blue of the Great Barrier Reef, the golden sand of the coast, the intense red of the dunes, the exuberant pink of the Outback sky at sunset – hardly any other continent boasts such a diverse array of colors as the fifth continent. Endless expanses and boundless nature dominate Australia, the sixth largest country in the world. Of its mere 23 million inhabitants, more than half live in the five largest cities, all of which are located along the coast. Two-thirds of Australia is defined by the Outback; this is what the locals call this gigantic expanse of semi-deserts and deserts in the heart of the continent. Australia offers more than 500 national parks for the inquisitive explorer who loves nature and adventure and is prepared to cover vast distances on lonely roads. For Patrick Loertscher, 25 years of travel have made Australia something of a second home.
