Antelope Canyon, with its incredible play of colors, is the most visited slot canyon in the southwestern United States and is located on the Navajo Nation Reservation. The fascinating colors and shapes of the twin canyons, which are approximately 25 meters high and 200 to 400 meters long, are now world-renowned. This unique natural wonder consists of Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon and is located near Page, Arizona. For millions of years, the two canyons were carved by Antelope Creek, a stream approximately 30 km long that only rarely carries water after torrential rains in its source area in the Mormon Ridges. The indirect sunlight transforms the incredible colors in the Navajo sandstone throughout the day, creating astonishing hues ranging from warm and vibrant oranges to intense reds and browns, and even violets. Patrick Loertscher has been a regular visitor to Antelope Canyon for many years and has spent a total of around 100 hours in its magical depths for his photographic work.
